Instagram / Check the DM. Escape the FYP’s cousin.

How to block Instagram on iPhone without deleting it.

Keep Instagram. Keep the group chat. Just stop letting one DM turn into 47 Reels and a mysterious new skincare routine.

You do not have to delete Instagram or become a person who only communicates by carrier pigeon. Swing lets you choose Instagram as an app to protect, then puts a funny interruption between you and the feed.

1. Choose Instagram in Swing

Open Swing and choose Instagram as one of the apps you want to use less. Pick the app that keeps turning “I am just checking something” into your entire afternoon.

2. Finish the iPhone setup

Follow Swing’s on-screen permission setup. This lets Swing show its interruption when you open Instagram, before your thumb starts negotiating with Reels.

3. Open Instagram like normal

Tap Instagram. Swing steps in with a funny block screen before the feed does. It is not a lecture. It is one real second to ask whether you meant to reply to a friend or accidentally enroll in another scroll marathon.

4. Make the call

Close Instagram and go be a person, or choose how long to unblock it. The app stays on your phone either way. That is the fun way to scroll less: a little less autopilot, not a full social-media exile.

Quick answers

Will this delete Instagram?

No. Swing adds an interruption before Instagram opens. It does not remove Instagram, your account, or your messages.

Can I still use Instagram when I need to?

Yep. You choose whether to leave the app or unblock it for a while.

Does Swing only work for Instagram?

No. Choose the apps that reliably turn a quick check into a lost hour. You can also block TikTok without deleting it.
